Greetings on arrival at the Pakse airport, the gateway to Southern Laos. We begin our journey
with a scenic drive through winding roads to the elevated fertile region of the Bolaven Plateau.
Spread across parts of all four Southern provinces, it is famous for its cool climate, dramatic
waterfalls, and is well known for its high-grade coffee plantations.
Learn about the process of coffee production and sample quality tea and coffee at one of these
plantations. Other stops to enjoy are the Tad Fane, Tad Yeuang and Tad Phasuam Waterfalls
surrounded with verdant jungles and pristine mountain backdrops — perfect for photo
opportunities.
The day will end in the ancient capital city of Champassak.

Following breakfast, prepare to be mesmerized by the magnificent workmanship of the ancient
ruins of Wat Phu (Mountain Temple) believed by some to be the first Angkor Temple ever built to
express the Hindu vision of nature and humanity. With its temple pillars, courtyards, lintels,
pediments, sanctuary, libraries and palaces, it is named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site it is
also one of Lao’s oldest archeological site.
In the afternoon, continue on the scenic route driving all the way to Done Khong, the
largest island in the “Si Phan Don” (4,000 Islands) a perfect base to explore all the attractions
nearby.

Overnight in DONE KHONG
Four Thousand Island is where Laos becomes an archipelago of islands where the pendulum of
time swings slowly and postcard-worthy views are the rule rather than the exception. What better
way to explore this tranquil riverine than a cruise along the Mekong River?
the fresh breeze while sailing along the Mekong River, passing fisherman villages and
eventually reaching Done Khone where we will disembark. On the island, we will see some iconic
sights such as the old French locomotive and railway bridge.
Continue on to the spectacular Liphi Waterfalls, a collection of powerful falls spilling down in many
angles as it branches from the Mekong River.
A relaxing cruise back to Don Khong Island marks the end of the day.

Our 4,000 Islands Adventure continues with a visit to the mighty Khone Phapheng Waterfalls.
Marvel at its immense size and powerful cascading currents turning water into explosive clouds
as it carves through the river rocks.
Continue on the road to the village of Ban Khiet Ngong located in Xe Pian National Protected
Area, an extensive wetland home to rare wildlife.
Enjoy a short walk as we ascend to the top of the Phou Asa Mountain where unique columns
made out of stacks of plate-like rocks stands proudly as if protecting an unseen structure, believed
to be a temple. Return back to Pakse to end an adventurous day.
