Meet your guide upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu airport and transfer to your Hotel. Rest of the day is free to explore the city on your own.
Depart your hotel for an introductory tour of the City of Kota Kinabalu. Visit a Chinese Buddhist temple, the Blue mosque, Signal hill and the Sabah Museum. Enjoy a local Malaysian lunch today. After lunch, we drive south to the town of Beaufort and then on to Kota Klias. We will take long boats on a river cruise into the Mangroves. Look out for the Proboscis monkeys that are only found here in Borneo, Macaque Monkeys and birds. Sometimes you can also see crocodiles if the water level is low. As the sunsets, the glittering array of small Christmas lights appears as the fireflies congregate on the tree canopies (may be difficult to see if full moon or raining). Enjoy a typical Malaysian dinner before returning to the city and your hotel.
Today we leave the hotel with our overnight bags. Drive North to the Tip of Borneo. Stop to visit local markets along the way. Enjoy the rural scenes of native villages, rice fields, rubber estates and fruit orchards. Just before the town of Kudat, we will drive to Tanjung Simpang Mengayau. This is the very top of Borneo Island and you get a great view of the meeting of the South China Sea & the Sulu Sea from here. Enjoy some time swimming in the crystal clear waters. Then head to a traditional long house for the night. We will be staying in a traditional Rungus longhouse and it will be rather basic (bedding and mosquito nets provided). Enjoy traditional dances and food for dinner.
Spend some time exploring the surrounding area of the village, do some trekking and observe the life style of the local people. Observe their methods of making traditional handicraft. Depart the village in the late morning and return to the city. Lunch on the way back. Visit a local pottery to see pots being made and decorated with traditional motifs. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore the city.
Drive through the Crocker range to the Southern end of the Kinabalu Park. At Poring, join a jungle trail, venturing into the canopy walkway which is a series of bridges built 40 km above the ground. This provides the visitor with a bird eyes view of the rainforest canopy. If time permits, take a dip in the therapeutic sulphur baths. After which, adjourn for lunch and proceed to the Kinabalu Park Headquarters. Visit the Mountain Garden with its collection of orchids and plants that are unique to Kinabalu. Depart the park and return to the city and your hotel.
Transfer to the jetty. Take a 20-minute boat ride to one of the coral islands within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. Spend the day swimming, snorkeling or just relaxing on the beach. Enjoy a simple box lunch and return to the mainland in the early afternoon (basic shower facilities are available on the islands). (Remarks : Boat transfers are on shared basis / join in.)
Free at leisure until the transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
