Greetings on arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel where you will have the chance to rest and
refresh. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour through the city and discover why it is a UNESCO
World Heritage site. Visit to Wat Xienthong, “The Temple of the Golden City” considered the finest
in all of Laos. Stop by to see the impressive architectures of Wat Visoun and Wat Aham, two of
the many temples in Luang Prabang. Get the heart-rate going with a small hike up to the Phou Si
Mountain for a breathtaking view of the entire city.
End the day with a leisurely walk through the vibrant Night Market, a must-see in Luang Prabang.

Ock Pop Tok (East Meet West) is set in a tropical Mekong garden (Luang Prabang), it’s opens
doors to learning about Lao textiles and crafts. Bringing alive our concept of east meets west, the
LCC is a place where you can meet silk weavers, craft artisans and silkworms and learn about
textiles and take classes.
Introduction to Hmong Batik culture!
Each student will create a wax resistant, Hmong-style design on hand-loomed hemp, together
with the legendary Mae Thao (Grandmother) Zuzong, our resident Batik Teacher.

The drive to Nong Khiaw will take you out of Luang Prabang and into the magnificent landscape of Northern Lao PDR to Nong Khiaw. From here we will cruise north along the Nam Ou River which has carved its way through some of the most beautiful and remote landscapes of Laos. During this journey we will visit the Village of Ban Sopcham. This village is known for its craft production of silk. You can experience the process of silk making from the initial stages to the final product. The village continues to follow the ancestral way of producing silk and weaving by hand loom a craft handed down from generation to generation.
Back to Nong Khiaw for overnight in a bungalow near the Nam Ou river.

COTTONG WORK SHOP
Overnight in NONG KHIAW
After a 40 min drive we will arrive at the village of Ban Na Nyang, which is famous for their
traditional cotton weaving. Almost every household has its own weaving loom where the families
create beautiful scarves, table cloths and ornate wall hangings. The art of cotton weaving in Ban
Na Nyang has been passed from generation to generation for almost 300 years.
We will interact with villagers during a workshop where they will shared handicraft technic about
cotton. Learn the different steps from the flower to the scarf.

WEAVING WORKSHOP

Back at Ock Pop Tok we join a Natural Dyes Class is an introduction to silkworms and silk types.
In this class, students have a hands-on experience with natural dye preparation and complete 3
color dyes. At the end of class you will take home 3 dyed silk skeins. Many of the natural dyes
used are grown in the surrounding garden.
Travel by car to reach our second highlight of the day, the multi-tiered turquoise-colored Kuang
Si Waterfall, deemed one of the most beautiful waterfalls in South-east Asia. Here you can also
visit the Bears Rescue Centre to see Asiatic bears rescued from illegal poaching and trading.
