The three-day Mekong River Cruise with Luang Say, a 34-meter long, very traditional wooden boat built in traditional Laotian style, will take you from Luang Prabang via Pakbeng to the Huay Xai Thai-Laos border post. Past untouched nature, cliffs, lush forests and beautiful, breathtaking river landscapes, visit the magical Tham Thing caves of Pak Ou, get to know the locals of a Kamu village and become familiar with their way of life.
In Ban Baw you can watch the traditional production of rice wine. The Luang Say Lodge in Pagbeng will be the lodging for the overnight stay. From this idyllic location you will experience the fascinating panorama of the Mekong.

Kamu Boat departs from Kamu Lodge Pier at Luang Prabang at 9:00. The “Luang-Say boats” are 34 meters long and can carry up to 40 people on board. The seats are protected from too much sun or rain by light roofs. There is enough space for the luggage; Since it can get quite cool in the months of October to February, you should also have warmer clothing. In the morning you will visit the two magical limestone caves of Tham Thing near Pak Ou. Directly from the jetty, a staircase leads into the caves with more than 1000 Buddha figures of various sizes.
After visiting this great place of pilgrimage, the boat trip continues upstream to the “Kamu Eco Lodge”. Here, check-in and lunch are done in the lodge’s open-air restaurant, weather permitting. Kamu Lodge is a nature-loving eco-lodge, decorated according to the traditional Lao lifestyle and surrounded by tropical vegetation. All meals are prepared from fresh local produce. In the afternoon, you can do various activities with the local staff. These would be, for example: planting / harvesting rice on the rice fields (seasonal), gold panning on the Mekong (Jan.-June), fishing with traditional network technology, jungle tour with a visit Kamu village u.a. The overnight stay in the wonderful, near-natural Kamu Eco-Lodge will be in mosquito-free safari tents with terrace and additional thatched roof as well as with bathroom, shower and toilet.
After a continental breakfast from about 07:00 clock you have free time to continue on with the “Luang-Say boat” between 10:00 and 11:00 clock. Lunch on board and continue with a stop in the small village of Ban Baw, whose inhabitants from rice brew alcoholic beverages. In the late afternoon you reach Pakbeng and the “Luang Say Lodge”, which is beautifully embedded in the beautiful nature. The romantic riverside property offers 20 cozy rooms in bungalows, comfortably furnished and built in wood. On the restaurant terrace, enjoy your dinner and relax overlooking the Mekong.
